Tumori

I tumori  sono una delle cause di morte maggiori al mondo e anche una delle paure maggiori della nostra epoca. Anche se il consumo di carne rossa sembra essere collegato ad un aumento nello sviluppo di alcuni tipi di tumore, dall'altra parte vi sono dati sperimentali incoraggianti sull'utilizzo della dieta chetogenica  come supporto nella terapia di alcuni tipi di tumore. Questo non deve sorprendere se pensiamo che la dieta chetogenica, se effettuata correttamente, simula alcuni aspetti del digiuno  che si è visto essere efficace nel ridurre la tossicità della chemioterapia. Inoltre alcuni tumori utilizzano preferenzialmente il glucosio come scopo energetico e quindi   i bassi livelli costanti di glicemia presenti durante una dieta chetogenica potrebbero avere un ruolo nel controllare la crescita delle masse tumorali.
